More than 25% of  long-haul truck drivers
                             are independent contractors
The  big trucking companies provide :
    -  training to these drivers
    -  and  financing for the vehicles

But the terms are so stiff  that
the drivers work 70 hours a week,  just to :
   -  Pay back what they owe
   -  and cover expenses for  fuel & insurance
They end up with unsustainable debt
                                           and  high expenses

Even those working as employees
have a hard time making ends meet
All this translates into a high turnover
So,  U.S. trucking companies are facing
                              a severe shortage of drivers
Who's to Blame for
              the Trucker Shortage?
